“The Season of the Lean Cows”

The exhibition “The Season of the Lean Cows” of the Visual Artists Association of Northern Greece (SKETBE), a visual reference to the poetry of Dinos Christianopoulos, stands out for its special and personal style.

Dinos Christianopoulos, the poet of Thessaloniki, throughout his life, was looking for poetry and love, the authenticity of ordinary people and the popular instinct, where they take place as music, songs and also visual art expression. “The insightful Christianopoulos had correctly foreseen the need to give opportunities to young and talented artists, painters, sculptors, engravers and photographers of Thessaloniki to present their work”, because a pillar of modern culture -the Art – is a phenomenon with a timeless presence and catalytic effect on the course of human life. Constitutes the foundation of the civilization and gives everyday to life ways to escape.

Embracing the above, including the sensitivity and inspired imagination of his poetry, our visual artists, members of our association, in a fruitful partnership of words and images, display details sculpted with intensely personal elements that highlight the mystical and enigmatic manner that inspired late in his poems. Released, however, the visual works, from him, acquire a life of their own, an autonomy, a new spiritual breath, a new work.

The art-loving visitor can see in the 68 works of SKETBE artists the range of trends, from painting, sculpture, engraving, ceramics, mosaic, mixed media, collage, to digital art and video art.

The exhibition is the third time it has taken place, after the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki (2021) and the Archaeological Museum of Serres (2022), this time the exhibition take place to  “The European Center Athens”, housed in a beautiful preserved three-floor building, at 74, Mitropoleos Street, in Plaka, Athens.
